The liberal opposition movement in Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus has proven incapable of mass mobilization and effective resistance due to its dependence on elite structures and “irreplaceable leaders.”
Liberals ignore and feel hostility toward left-wing internationalists, which rules out equal cooperation. Centrist rhetoric, focused exclusively on the fight against the figure of the president, is disconnected from the needs of the population and lacks a social base.
Despite the decline at the beginning of the war, the left-wing movement has begun to actively recover. This creates opportunities for the formation of an independent political pole. The growth of social contradictions increases the demand for radical changes that the left can offer today.
Therefore, it is important for us to clearly define an anti-war position based on the protection of ordinary people, and not on the political calculations of oligarchic groups. It is also important to have a strong social base among workers, forcibly mobilized people, students, and other groups of the population.
By offering an uncompromising left alternative, we can win support among citizens today. To do this, we need to create a relevant and adequate program of change, which will become the next step for the united actions of the left internationalist opposition.
To this end, we are organizing a series of events, the “Program of Social Changes,” aimed at this. They are planned in person and online in the winter-spring of 2025.
Its main conceptual principle is an internationalist, anti-war and socialist perspective.
We also want to avoid abstract ideological conversations about everything and nothing, instead putting at the forefront the discussion of specific problems and fundamental social changes in modern Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. The ability to prove one’s stance is categorically important, as well as mutual respect.
We are looking for:
- economists, political scientists, sociologists and people of other humanitarian specialties;
- activists of left, trade union, environmental, human rights and other civil organizations;
As well as all other people with fresh and concrete ideas.
We also call on all left internationalist organizations and initiatives of Belarus, Russia and Ukraine to join the process.
Participants will be able to join various working and expert groups by country (Russia, Ukraine, Belarus), as well as on individual specific issues. The materials of these groups will subsequently be combined into a program line of the internationalist left.
We also consider it important to collect orders from all those who wish with your suggestions or wishes so that the program of the left internationalists is filled not only with specific content, but also takes into account the opinions of as many interested people as possible. They can be submitted through the specific form.
Send your applications for participation, as well as orders no later than April 1, 2025.
